This site is about the family.
All of us have or had a family. Most of our experiences – good or bad – came from our relationships within the family. The influence our family has on our life cannot be denied. We have to cherish its joys. We have to deal with its pains.
Yes, the family is a treasure. God, from the beginning of his creation, designed it that way. But for others it is a trash. Due to man’s sinful nature, we have distorted life’s most meaningful human relationships.
For those who still consider their family as a treasure, by God’s help it can remain a treasure as long as you live. For those who consider their family as a trash, it can be turned into a treasure by God’s grace. This is the grace that transforms your heart first and then that of your loved ones.
For those who have lost their families due to death or abandonment (physical or emotional), the good news is that you have not just a treasure but the Treasure – God himself through Jesus Christ. This truth is even for those who have the happiest family on earth.
Yes, the family is a treasure, but it is not the Treasure. Do not let your family become an idol. The family cannot provide us with everything our heart needs. Temporal, probably. But eternal, no. The family is not ultimate, God is. The family is not perfect, God is. The family is not all-satisfying, God is.
So this site is about the family, but not mainly about the family. It is about God who alone can satisfy our longing for love.
So my wife (Jodi) and I will post here reflections from God’s Word, personal reflections on our family experiences, and other resources we can recommend to help you – singles, husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, widows, widowers, children, single parents, divorced men and women – treasure what matters most in your family, namely, God.
It is our prayer, then, that God will use this site to that end.
